Weekly Wishlist: Kitsch is a Lifestyle

 Kitsch furniture

1 Andrew Martin Alphabet Table 2 Dwell Peace Sign Candle

3 Amy Sia Tribal pillow 4 Studio Copenhagen cushion 5 Fish in the City

For those of you who haven’t already gathered – I am a lover of all things Kitsch! While I believe it would be a complete interior faux-pas to place all these items in one room, a sprinkling of these colourful, key items can bring a great deal of life to a deflated, lifeless interior.

My two absolute favourites are Dwell’s painting “Fish in the City” and the Fashion For Home Studio Copenhagen cushion. Why? Because New York streets are such an overused cliche in print and canvas paintings, and “Fish in the City” is a really creative and original reworking of this concept. As for the cushion, I adore the colour combination and the juxtaposition between the soft cushion material and the strong, pixelated lines of the print.

Which is your favourite?

I also love kitsch but once again, it’s difficult to pull off well. When done badly, a bit like kitsch itself, it’s garish and horrendous. I think doing kitsch stylishly is an art.

Doesn’t it :). I’m planning on getting me one soon. Got a massive black sofa at home… which could use some jazzing up ! Happy weekend!
