Interior of the Week: Why, yellow there!

The other day, I was on browsing on twitter when I came accross this beautiful Nicole Hollis interior via Design To Inspire. I absolutely adore the yellow headboard in the bedroom. Its so illuminating and it really brightens up the green walls. Despite not being a whole house, I chose this room because it is simply bursting with interesting styles and features – how cool is the newspaper wallpaper? It’s subtle rather than tacky. One thing I admire about Hollis’s interior styling, is her ability to balance juxtaposed objects so well. A good example of this is the floral print of the cushions which softens the harsh industrial lamps and metal desk.

It is definitely about time I posted about something with some vibrant colours. Aren’t you surprised at how yellow, green and red have been used together but look so natural and complimentary? I certainly am.

Lovely vintage accessorising with this typwriter and those standard yellow pencils we used to get at school. There is definitely an underlying rebelliousness to this aesthetic, with the casually strewn Jack Daniels bottle, cigarettes and skull & crossbones. For me this room is a real fusion of so many styles, from feminine floral upholstery to a writers sanctuary. I love it! What do you think?

  1. Love that desk Trisha and the Wishbone chair. Yellow is such a difficult colour to do well, but it works here. I also love it with grey – they make a great combination. Gx

  2. Admit T, you wrote that post for me??

Love everything about it. The yellow, the cushion, the Ilse Crawford lamp for W, The light fixture, the newspaper wallpaper, the desk etc etc etc…

    Great find x
