Welcome to Frank and Andra Mollica’s beautifully festive Connecticut home. A wonderfully nature-oriented and handmade approach to Christmas decor. There is absolutely nothing garish or overdone about it. I adore the old wooden sleigh in front of the door (above), it definitely plays on the nostalgia that we all love Christmas for!
When I first laid eyes on this exposed brick fireplace with its classic white frame, I heard that age old christmas line “Chesnuts roasting on an open fire…” chiming melodically in my ears. What says christmas more than a glowing, roaring fireplace? Additionally, the white jug motif is a simply perfect way to offset the striking reds and greens of the berries, evergreen branches and holly!
You can really see how much love has gone into decorating this tree! Andra made these birds herself with newspaper and these personalized tags from brown paper. The icing on the cake is this vintage-looking metal tree-holder which acts as a wonderful contrast to all the woods and browns and emphasises the delicate vigor of the Mollica’s minimalist style.
I would have to say that the kitchen is my favourite room. The black and white tiling is such a lovely feature in combinatino with the shabby chic finish of the wooden table and stool. The devotion to wooden homeware looks very elegant and gives the place a Scandinavian feel. Finally, I love the organic festive touches that have been given to this room, the holly on the left and the oranges on the table – not the mention the stars!
